...When will he stop pulling others down because of personal ambition?
Akwa Ibom people have expressed shock over the revelations of the role the defeated Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr Umana Okon Umana in the travails of Justice John Inyang Okoro of the Supreme Court.
Justice Okoro was among the Judges of the Supreme Court who were recently arrested for alleged corruption by the DSS.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Okoro narrated his ordeal in the hands of DSS on the night of Friday October 7th and early morning of Saturday October 8th.
He said Rotimi Amaechi came to his house to inform him that both President Mohammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress asked to tell him that they must win their cases in three states of Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Abia states.
The judge said Amaechi told him that he sponsored Umana Umana, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the Akwa Ibom state governorship election. He alleged that Amaechi promised him a monthly pay from Umana once the candidate is declared the winner of the election by the Supreme Court.
He also revealed that Umana visited him in company of Pastor (Dr) Ebebe Ukpong and made a request to bribe the Supreme Court Justices to help him win his case. Justice Okoro said he orally reported the nocturnal visits to the Chief Justice of Nigeria and alleges that he is being victimized on suspicion that, his failure to act on the request of Umana caused him to lose his case.
Meanwhile, a cross section of Akwa Ibom people are enraged by Umana's latest act of wickedness towards prominent citizens of the state.
Commenting on the action of Umana, Chief Ndarake Eyo a community leader said, Umana is only acting true to type as he has a long history of conspiracy against Akwa Ibom sons. He argued that a leopard cannot change its spots.
Chief Eyo however said Umana will one day meet his punishment for the evil he has done against others like Senator Effiong Bob and Ambassador Sam Edem who are his brothers from Nsit Ubium.
Also reacting to the development, a former Commissioner who served with Umana when he was Secretary to State Government, who did not however want his name on print, said Umana was known for his high handedness and forever plotting the downfall of cabinet members who did not agree with him. In the process, he trampled on many of them and frustrated them in and out of office.
Also speaking, a woman activist Madam Ofonime Udoide, slammed Umana as a very desperate politician who is at home with pulling other people down. She said Umana is still using some media hirelings to tarnish the image of his friend and former boss, Senator Godswill Akpabio, simply because the latter did not support his ill-fated Governorship ambition and they are writing all manner of rubbish against Senator Akpabio.
She advised Umana to move opn and realize that power comes from God and stop whinning about a lost election.
A youth leader Mr Boniface Ukpe also advised Umana to concentrate on his new job and get busy as he will never succeed in his evil plots against the state. Ukpe frowned at what he says is Umana's penchant to destroy anybody on the altar of his personal ambition and for working hard to keep the State divided long after he was defeated in a keenly contested election.
